The canopy over the barbecue changes the path of water and the environment around the hot device. Its material and construction are chosen together with the requirements of the firebox and flue. Vitcas proflues can perform specific tasks in connections, but they do not independently determine the complete canopy design.
Show water routes and the hot flue
In the section, mark the roof, supports, flue, and adjacent materials. Add drainage from the edge and a possible inflow point under the enclosure. Water should not be accidentally directed into the chamber or insulation termination.
The passage of the flue through the roof must correspond to a specific system. Check its installation and clearance requirements. Do not confirm the correctness of the detail by filling the free opening with any resistant material.
Do not transfer functions between proflues
Heat Resistant Silicone has described applications in compatible flexible connections. It is not automatically a complete chimney penetration nor a replacement for any of its parts. The temperature of the proflue does not describe the conditions of wood located next to the flue.
HT Fireboard performs its own protective tasks. Also, Outdoor Oven Cement is used for specific refractory joints, not for determining the load-bearing capacity of canopy posts. Each location requires a proflue compatible with its intended function.
Keep space for service
On a cold barbecue, check the path of the grate, tools, and removable components. The roof should not cover the required openings or obstruct the inspection of the flue. Also take into account the space available after enclosing the sides.
Take photos of the passage before closing the roof and keep documentation of the components. Record the markings of the installed parts so that later you can compare the system instructions. When replacing the covering later, assess the detail again. An unchanged firebox does not automatically confirm the correctness of the new material above it.
